Purple

Why purple? Being the first color study on Color Seek, it seemed like it was important to set the tone in a bold way. The first idea that grabbed my attention was purple. Not because it's the most common color around, but because it's been a rainy summer in Colorado and what is constantly popping into my field of vision are purple wildflowers in a normally dry and brittle landscape. Rain has given us the green, but amongst the sea of leaves and stems, purple flowers dot the landscape. We know traditionally purple was associated with riches and royalty; history tells us that purple dyes and inks were more difficult and costly to produce, so they were generally reserved for the wealthy elite. Purple has been used all the way from cave drawings in Neolithic times, to 20th century icons: Deep Purple, Purple Haze, Purple Rain... To me, purple is warm while it is cool. It is deep, abundant, mysterious, and bold.
